Better Health the Natural Way

I am at that age in life where I am more concerned about being healthy than I am about looking great. Yeah, I’m at that stage in life where I have started waking up with little aches and pains, and starting to feel pain in places I only used to hear old people talk about! What??

I do not consider myself old my any means but ever since I hit the big 4-0, it’s like things have gotten a bit rusty all over. And since I want to continue enjoying a healthy lifestyle, I decided to really get serious about how I eat, how I sleep and how much exercise I get. Most importantly, I have decided to get serious, really serious about supplementation. Because I finally realize that I will never get all the nutrients my body needs from food alone.. No matter how organic or how clean food is, there will still be some nutritional gaps that food simply cannot fill because the quality is just not where it should be.

Dietary Supplement for Better Health

I have always preferred the natural approach to health because I do believe that the good Lord has placed all the body needs to heal itself inside plants and inside our own bodies. But was we age, our bodies don’t function optimally because we eat all kinds of junk and don’t get enough sleep or exercise. And so our bodies respond by getting achy or just plain sick. Here is where taking a good dietary supplement can help the body to heal itself. So I’ve started taking some dietary supplements and I am truly, truly amazed at how great I have been feeling.

I used to get up every morning with back aches and some pain in the hips and sometimes in the knees. I chalked it up to aging but decided that I didn’t want to live with that pain or that feeling for the rest of my life. I still consider myself somewhat young! Yeah, I’m over 40 but I don’t consider myself old at all. And I still want to feel the best I can every single day of my life. So I started taking this great dietary supplement. I take 2 capsules of it just after having breakfast every morning. I started feeling better the very first day I started using this supplement. Here are some of the ways this dietary supplement helped me:

No More Back pain! I can’t tell you how good it felt to wake up in the morning and not have to hobble out of bed because my back felt like I was recovering from some sort of invasive surgery. I mean, I was able to stand up straight and get my exercise done without feeling any pain in my knees or hips and to enjoy my workouts once again. Which leads me to my second point

Greater Endurance and Shorter Workout Recovery

I was greatly thrilled when I realized that I could keep up for much longer with the instructors on the workout videos that I do for my daily workouts. I am no longer huffing and puffing and thinking of stopping after the first 2 minutes into it! I surprised myself when I made it through the first entire 30 minute session without taking all of the 5 or so breaks that I normally have to take. Now I only have to take 1 or 2! Absolutely fantastic!

Another thing I really appreciate about this particular dietary supplement is the fact that I do not experience the usual days and days of muscle soreness after a tough workout. In fact, I hardly feel any soreness at all. Which means that I can now work out longer and take on greater challenges to rebuild lost muscles. This is my kind of supplement!

More Energy….for Everything!

When you have to drag yourself through every single day and fight to stay awake because there are things that need to get done, you know that something is not right. And that is exactly how I used to feel every day. Truth be told, I would wake up tired every morning and go back to bed doubly tired every night. I was not getting any sleep and tossed and turned most nights. Now how many of you know that the longer this goes on, the greater toll it takes on the body and the less able you become to deal with simple daily tasks?

Just a single night without sleep is enough to make you sick. So just imagine sleepless nights for months and months without any relief. It makes you put on weight, it makes you irritable, less able to concentrate and focus, and the list goes on and on. There are no positive effects of not sleeping. So when I was finally able to sleep for at least 8 hours every night, to dream dreams that I haven’t dreamt in a long while and to wake up energized and ready to take on the world, I was hooked. These dietary supplements had me that very first night!

Did I mention that after taking these supplements that I had energy for everything? Yes, everything! Including in the bedroom department if you know what I mean. Needless to say, my husband has become the greatest fan of this dietary supplement because when I take it, let’s just say that I’m much easier to deal with! Lol!

I have found a dietary supplement that has allowed me to regain my life! I feel energized again. I feel motivated again. I feel like I can take on greater challenges and accomplish more in life. My body feels healthy again and my mind feels renewed everyday! There’s not much more that I can ask for in a dietary supplement. It is a natural relief for the issues that come with living life and by simply taking two pills daily, I can improve my quality of living. How great is that? Don’t get envious now. But if you would like to know what it is that is making my life better and what it is I am taking, I would love to share the information. Just fill in the form below and I will get back to you with all the gory details!

Wheat Begone!

wheat dietHi guys. It’s been awhile, I know. But I’ve been pre-occupied with “stuff”. That’s life I guess. Anyway, I haven’t gone anywhere and I have decided to update you guys on what’s going on with me and the wheat diet that I embarked upon some months back.

Well, first let me just say that I have slacked off heavily in the past month or so. I mean I’ve been eating all sorts of sandwiches and roti and bread and patties. Oh my goodness, I gave myself one inch, but my appetite went and took a whole mile! That’s why I believe that this wheat business is all or nothing. A little bit of wheat will end up being a whole lot of wheat and before you know it, you have become what you used to be – a wheat guzzling, stomach protruding, foggy-brained, miserable person!

I should have had a plan to prevent this from happening but I didn’t. It all started when my sister-in-law came to visit us for a few days. Of course, as the host, I was responsible for meal preparation. Since I had cut out wheat from my diet and from my family’s diet, I had no wheat in the house. Neither did I purchase any wheat when I went shopping. After a few days of no wheat at all, my sister-in-law began to ask questions. “Ahm, you guys don’t eat bread?”, “Can we have black forest cake for dessert today?”. That was it! She had me at “black forest”! How did this woman know my weakness? If there was one thing that could get me off the wheat diet without a fight, it was black forest cake.  I am ashamed to admit it but I caved in without a fight. Like a moth to the fire, I headed straight to the supermarket and purchased some of that delicious black forest cake made by Mega Mart. And I did enjoy that dessert that day.

And on and on it went until I found myself buying bread and other wheat products regularly. Am I really that weak? In fairness to myself, I believe I succumbed to the desire to be a good host. I didn’t want to impose my diet upon my sister-in-law and I wanted her to feel comfortable while she was staying at my place for a few weeks. So I justified my behavior and tried to console myself that it would only last for a few weeks – no biggie. I figured that I could easily get back to my wheat-free lifestyle as soon as her visit ended.

Did I get back to my wheat-free lifestyle when her visit ended? No, I didn’t. Did I try to get back to my wheat-free lifestyle after my sister-in-law left? Yes, yes I did! Did it work. NO, NO it didn’t! In fact, it was near impossible since by now both my son and my husband had gotten accustomed to having wheat again and were even demanding it. What was I supposed to do? It was too much pressure!

But I have taken a stand. I have put my foot down. Because at the end of the day, it is MY health and MY family’s health that are at stake here. Going back on wheat made me realize how negatively wheat had been affecting me and my family all along. As soon as I started to eat wheat regularly again, my sinusitis issues returned, I had brain fog like you wouldn’t imagine, I felt tired even after getting a full night’s rest and of course my stomach started to protrude again like I was a few month’s pregnant. Disgusting!

I don’t want to live like this. I don’t want my family to live like this. So, guess what? I am back on my wheat free diet starting today! No more wheat! Absolutely none! Not even just a little bit because that thing is really addictive! It really is like a drug and so much of the world is addicted to wheat and don’t even realize it! Wheat is slowly killing so many people and they have no idea why they feel so off. Many people would never even think of wheat affecting them negatively but then ignorance is a hell of a thing.

We hear it every day that whole wheat is good for you and that it’s the way to eat healthily and on and on and on. But it’s not necessarily true for everybody. I know for me that my body does not do well on wheat. My brain does not do well on wheat and that whole wheat is the worst thing for me to have. It’s almost like slow poisoning myself. Okay, poisoning may be a little dramatic but you get the point.

So, wheat is out, health is in! Anybody with me?

Total Life Changes (TLC) Launches in Jamaica!

TLC Total Life Changes launches in Jamaica
Total Life Changes (TLC) launch at the Wexford Court Hotel, Montego Bay, Jamaica

Last weekend I had the privilege of attending the launch of Total Life Changes (TLC) in Jamaica. Total Life Changes (TLC) is a network marketing company headquartered in the United States and also operating in Mexico, Columbia, El Salvador, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Curacao and Bolivia. Jamaica is their newest market. I attended the Montego Bay meeting and I was thoroughly impressed by the company and by the huge opportunity that has been made available to Jamaicans. I got to meet some of the top leaders in the business and to see firsthand what exactly makes this opportunity so huge and why I need to be a part of it.

The Total Life Changes (TLC) business launched officially in Jamaica on Saturday October 24th at the Wexford Court Hotel in Montego Bay. The evening was jam-packed with presentations about the business opportunity as well as the impressive line of products that the company offers.

TLC Iaso teaI was specially interested in learning about the company’s leading product, the IASO tea. This is a refreshing tea that promises to help you to lose 5 pounds within 5 days! I was blown away by some of the testimonies that were given by ordinary people who had not only dropped 5 lbs in 5 days but who have gone on to lose much more. This refreshing Iaso tea comes in the form of a teabag. Two IASO teabags are added to 4 cups of boiling water and allowed to sit for 8 to 24 hours. Water is then added to make it up to one gallon. It is then ready to serve as a refreshing drink. The Iaso tea should be kept refrigerated and the gallon should serve for a period of 5 days for one person.

At first, the taste was not immediately appealing to me. But I have gotten accustomed to the taste and must admit that it is a very refreshing drink.

Benefits of Iaso Tea by Total Life Changes (TLC)

I am not making any medical claims about the Iaso tea but besides being refreshing, the iaso tea also offers health benefits which include:

  1. Helps with Weight Loss
  2. Reduces stress
  3. Reduces the risk of cancer
  4. Helps to prevent cardiovascular diseases
  5. Fights aging and prevents wrinkling of the skin
  6.  Helps to prevent high blood pressure and obesity
  7. Reduces cholesterol levels
  8. Strengthens the immune system
  9. Reduces the risk of arthritis

  16. Protects against food poisoning
  17. Prevents colds and flu
  18. Helps to fight against herpes

Wow, that’s an impressive list! And these are benefits that you get just by drinking 2 cups of the iaso tea everyday!

Wheat Belly Fast – Week 1 Update and Results

Basking in the sun on the north coast
Basking in the sun on the north coast

So it’s official. I have been on my wheat belly fast for approximately one week! It has been something very new for me but also very exciting and it has given me a goal to work towards.

This weekend I took a mini vacation to the north coast and it was absolutely wonderful! I did inform my host beforehand that I am on wheat free regimen and she tried her best to cater to my wheat-free requirements. However, I know it wasn’t easy for her to find food to feed me sometimes. I am really grateful to her for accommodating me and my special requirements. While I ate wheat free, my husband and my son didn’t. They had whatever their little hearts desired.

I had some very healthy meals that were both aesthetically appealing and appealing to the tastebuds. On Friday night when we arrived, my host fed us with Kentucky Fried Chicken. I admit it wasn’t the healthiest choice but at least I didn’t have to eat any wheat.

Wheat free breakfast
Saturday Morning Breakfast – Saltfish, boiled bananas, boiled yello yam, fried plantain, and avocado pear

Saturday morning was when the fun begun. We were treated like royalty as we were served a scrumptious breakfast consisting of saltfish, boiled bananas, boiled yellow yam, fried plantains and avocado pear. It was heavenly! I felt so good afterwards and did not suffer from lethargy nor heaviness. For my beverage I had Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee with cream. It doesn’t get much better than that people!

We skipped lunch because we got so caught up in watching a movie that we didn’t realize how late it was. By the time the movie was done we had to head straight out to a planned function.

You can imagine how hungry we became sitting through the 3 hour long function after not having any lunch. This was something I was not prepared for and had to settle for a chicken sandwich to keep the hunger at bay. That would suffice for dinner. I only ate one half of the bread in order to cut down on the wheat as best I could under the circumstances.

Sunday was the best day where eating was concerned. Again, I had a very healthy and delicious breakfast consisting on cornmeal porridge, ripe banana slices, avocado slices, tomato slices and lettuce.  Here is what it looked like:

wheat free breakfast
Healthy wheat free breakfast – Cornmeal porridge, banana slices, avocado pear slices, tomato slices and lettuce

I spent the rest of the time basking in the sun, enjoying good conversation and just enjoying the great north coast view.

After a week of being on my wheat free diet, I am very very pleased with what has happened so far. I was not perfect this week as there were a few times when I did indulge and give way to my wheat craving. A lot of it could be blamed on the fact that I was not adequately prepared, however.

Going forward, I will be better prepared since I now know that sticking to a wheat free diet requires substantial planning and organization.

I am very very pleased to report that I have lost 3/4 of an inch from my waist during the week! For me this is a huge accomplishment considering how hard it has been for me to lose weight from my waist in the past. Plus, I didn’t follow the wheat free fast strictly and I also only managed to exercise 3 days for the week when I would normally exercise at least 5 days per week.

So I realize that wheat was in fact contributing a lot to my not being able to have a flat stomach and not being able to lose weight in my mid-section. I would probably have lost another 1/2 and inch if I had followed the diet strictly and had exercised my usual 5 sessions.

These results are really encouraging and I look forward to what week 2 holds. My waist now measures 30 3/4 inches down from 31 1/2 inches 7 days ago. This alone makes up for the wheat withdrawal symptoms that I experienced at the beginning of the week.

Those symptoms have pretty much subsided now.

I am looking forward to bigger and better things in the coming weeks.

Until next time, take care people and eat well :)!

30 Days No Wheat Fast – Day #4

wheat belly tiredI can safely say that the wheat that I ate in that cake yesterday, affected me negatively this morning. When I got up this morning I was still tired and felt like I hadn’t slept all night. I yawned uncontrollably all morning. In addition, I had huge dark circles around my eyes from the lack of sleep.

There was nothing that I did differently to account for this adverse reaction other than eat a lot of wheat. My husband and I would usually treat ourselves to generous servings of black forest cake on Saturday nights. Whenever we would do so, I would always feel very tired in the morning and would usually end up waking up very late on a Sunday morning. This is exactly how I felt this morning. It has to be the wheat that was causing me to feel so tired like I hadn’t slept for an entire 24 hours.

Anyway, I fought the sleepy feeling because I had work that I needed to get done. The rest of the day went quite well. I managed to go for the entire day without eating any wheat and I am really happy that I managed to do so. I didn’t do my workout today but I will make up for it before the week ends.

For breakfast I had oats porridge sprinkled with ripe banana cubes. I had instant chocolate for my beverage.

For lunch I had stew chicken, steamed callaloo and rice and peas. I forgot to take out the kidney beans since they don’t work well with my blood type. I will remember that next time. For a beverage, I had pineapple flavoured Tang.

Dinner was wonderful and I had stew chicken, boiled yellow yam and steamed pak choi. All in all I did get a good amount of veggies in today. And the fact they they were dark green and leafy means that they were choc full of all the right nutrients.

I am beginning to wonder how I am going to manage eating out with wheat restrictions. The Jamaican diet is largely comprised of wheat products in the form of flour. Not to mention that I normally tend to go straight for burgers when I need to grab something to eat on the road. I guess, I will have to have the burger meat without having the buns if push comes to shove. I should be attending a function soon and I really wonder how I’m going to resist the usual pastry  hors douvres  (did I spell that right?). Whatever happens, I have made up my mind that I will not eat wheat voluntarily except in dire circumstances. Lord, help me!

Until next time, take care 😉

30 Days Wheat Free Fast – Day #3

wheat craving wheat fast
That darn cake!

The cravings for wheat were unbelievable today! Donuts looked so attractive to me today….I mean they looked so sexy to me!

While I resisted the urge to indulge in those donuts that were beckoning to me from the vendor’s trolley, I must admit that I cheated today. Yes, I am not proud to say it but I cheated.

I had a slice of my son’s birthday cake that he had left over from his birthday this Sunday. And I know I said that I wouldn’t keep any flour in the house but I couldn’t figure out what to do with the rest of the cake…..Well I knew I could give it away but really I didn’t want to.

So instead I pushed it to the back of the refrigerator hoping that since it was out of sight it would be out of mind. And it was until my son found it and asked me for a slice. Why this temptation Lord?

Why did that boy have to find that cake and come and tempt me in my moment of weakness? I convinced myself that it was just a small slice and that one single slice would do no harm.

Hmmmm, Eve figured that a single bite of the apple wouldn’t have hurt either. Anyway, I am not going to beat myself up too much over that. I am moving on because despite my shortcomings today, I am still determined to give up wheat. This wheat belly has got to go!

On the positive side, I did manage to get in lots of exercise today. I walked for a half an hour in the morning and then in the evening I did my 30 minutes aerobics and strength training session. I enjoyed it but my shoulders are still aching from this wheat fast.

Apart from the cake, I didn’t do too badly in terms of eating either. Here’s what I had today.

Oats porridge (Yes, porridge again)

Chocolate (cocoa) tea

Steamed white rice and corned beef (Not the best choice of protein but that’s the easiest thing I could prepare considering how hungry I was feeling)

Orange flavoured Tang for a beverage

Stew Chicken, boiled yam and boiled bananas with a slice of avocado pear. I also had a ripe banana for fruit.

So I am noticing a trend here. Firstly that I really don’t eat enough vegetables and secondly that I tend to eat my fruits with my last meal instead of with breakfast. Strange.

Anyhow, my wheat fast is in full swing and I WILL NOT QUIT! But I need to do better. I need to keep a good stock of acceptable foods on hand so that I don’t yield to temptation. And I must eat more vegetables. I must. No more wheat belly for me. Anniversary is coming up in December and I will not look like this when that day arrives. I refuse to.

That’s all for now people.

Until tomorrow, take care :)!

30 Days Wheat Free Fast – Day #2

Ooats and cocoa for wheat fast breakfast
Quaker 100% Oats and Grace Instant Chocolate

Today was my second official day without eating wheat. Like I mentioned previously, I had started unofficially from Friday afternoon going into Saturday. During the morning on Saturday, I noticed that I was very irritable.

I snapped at my husband and my son for no apparent reason and I wondered what was causing me to be so fussy. I knew it wasn’t PMS based on the time of month so I was a bit confused as to what was happening.

I chalked it up to just not having a great night’s rest. Little did I realize that I was actually suffering from some of the effects of wheat withdrawal. In my research, I have learned that when you stop eating wheat, you are likely to experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms similar to those experienced by drug addicts or alcoholics who are dropping their drug habits!

This was a huge shocker to me because I did not realize how impactful wheat is on our bodies – especially our brains and our guts. Anyway, I realize that I have been experiencing wheat withdrawal symptoms all weekend coming into today, which is Tuesday.

The most noticeable symptoms for me have been :

  • joint aches in my shoulders and my neck,
  • flu-like feelings
  • brain fog – I couldn’t remember the words to the songs at church on Sunday
  • irritability
  • Extreme feelings of hunger
  • Excessive sweating
  • Stomach pains

It’s just amazing how our diets can affect every aspect of our lives. I never realized how important it is to eat ‘right’ until now.

We have become a society that is literally hooked and high on wheat! In fact, Dr. Davis has stated that wheat has a similar effect on the brain as opiates! I mean it is like we are on drugs when we consume wheat. And it is actually addictive.

This is why it is so difficult for those who have eaten wheat heavily all their lives to wean themselves from it. It is a literal struggle as the body fights to retain the feel good, opium-like effects of wheat.

Today I grinned and bore all the wheat withdrawal symptoms and still remain determined to stop eating wheat completely. Here is what I ate today.

Oats porridge

Hot chocolate (cocoa)

Stew chicken, raw vegetables, rice and peas (picked out the peas). With type O blood, cabbage actually slows down my metabolism but I only had very little cabbage. I just wanted to get some vegetables in and I realized that I didn’t have any other vegetables in the house so the cabbage had to do.

Afternoon Snack

Oats porridge – I was feeling hungry by mid-afternoon and decided to have the remaining oats porridge from breakfast.

Mince (ground beef) and rice – I really enjoyed this. I have a natural love for beef so the fact that it is good for my blood type makes it that much better. I had Tang as a beverage. I had a June Plum for fruit.

I did my workout in the morning today. I wanted to do another 30 minutes in the evening but was simply too tired to go through with it.

So, I’ve made it through day 2. That’s 2 down, 28 more to go…..

30 Days Lose the Wheat Belly Fast

wheat fast
Roasted breadfruit, ackee and saltfish, steamed calaloo and avocado pear

Hey hey hey! I am about to embark on my 30 Day Lose the Wheat Belly Challenge and I am very excited about it. Today is officially the first day, although I started unofficially on Saturday when I went shopping in order to prepare for this challenge.

Why I Decided to Go on A Wheat Fast

If you follow my blog, you know that I have a challenge losing the extra fat around my waist. I have tried numerous different strategies including taking diet supplements but the results have not been lasting.

I would lose inches only to have them pile back on. And it certainly is not for lack of exercise. I exercise diligently and see great results on other areas on my body. But when it comes to my abdominals/belly, I can never seem to make a breakthrough.

I have been reading Dr. Peter D’Adamo’s book about eating right for your blood type and I fully buy into his argument that different blood types react differently to different foods.

In his book, Dr. D’Adamo points out that wheat is not good for persons with type O blood. According to the goodly doctor, wheat gluten  interferes with insulin efficiency and also slows the metabolic rate.

I have also been reading Dr. William Davis’ blog about the harmful effects that wheat can have on the body and I have decided that this is something I need to look into.

More importantly, I have decided to go on this wheat fast for more serious health issues. Recently I did a diagnostic scan and I realized that my insulin levels were above the normal range. I repeated the test 4 weeks after the first test and the results were the same. My insulin levels were above the normal range when tested 2 hours after I ate.

Diabetes scares me. But I am at risk for developing diabetes because both my parents actually have diabetes. This is not a disease that I want to contend with. It has been shown that wheat has a very high glycemic index. Glycemic Index is a scale that rates food between 1 and 100 based on their effect on blood sugar levels.

The higher the glycemic index, the more that food raises the blood sugar level. Wheat has a very high glycemic index of about 75. This means that it raises the blood sugar level very quickly and very easily, causing a spike in insulin levels.

Foods with glycemic indices at or below 55 don’t cause the release of insulin into the blood stream. The fact that I consume wheat every single day and usually have 2 meals with wheat products everyday, I know that the wheat is a very likely culprit for my high insulin levels.

Apart from that wheat has been shown to have negative effects on the brain leading to memory loss and even depression. The fact that I have been suffering more and more from brain fog and short term memory loss has made me really pay attention to what is happening within my body when I eat.

I have family members who have cut out whole wheat from their diets because they tend to suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome and have negative reactions to wheat products. Since I have been reading up more about wheat I realize that the effects of wheat on the body tends to run in families.

I tend to believe that it runs in families because families usually eat the same way, consuming the same food. So I believe it is more of a lifestyle issue rather than a genetic issue. But that’s just my opinion.

Anyway, based on all the evidence stacked up against wheat, I have decided to cut it out of my diet for an initial period of 30 days and then make a lifestyle decision based on what happens.

My Approach to the Wheat Fast

So I went shopping on Saturday to get items that are wheat free. I have decided that I will not have any flour in my house for the next 30 days. Neither will I have any biscuits or other wheat snacks in my cupboard.

It was not easy finding items that do not contain wheat. In fact, it seems like the vast majority of carbohydrates that I consume are made with wheat. Anyway, I managed to get a few items that were wheat free.

What I couldn’t get over was how expensive wheat free products are. My goodness, it’s as if you have to be rich to have a diet that does not include wheat. Nevertheless, I am determined to stay wheat free for the next 30 days.

ground provisions for wheat fastThe good thing about living in Jamaica is that we grow lots of ground provisions and produce that are excellent replacements for wheat. We have an abundance of yams, and green bananas, pumpkins, breadfruit, cocoa, cassava, dasheens and much more. This makes it a bit easier I think. So instead of making dumplings I will just prepare one of these ground provisions instead.

I have already cut out dairy from my diet because I discovered long ago that I am lactose intolerant. So I will continue with this.

Whether my family likes it or not, they will be included in this journey. My son is already rebelling because he longs for his biscuits and fried dumplings but I know that in the long run, we will all be better for it.

My Wheat Free Day #1

Here is what I ate today:

For breakfast I had boiled yellow yam and Grace Mackerel. For a hot beverage I had Tetley Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea. I also had a few slices of pineapple as fruit.

Looking back I think I overdosed a little on caffeine today. The multivitamin that I take contains both guarana and green tea caffeine. After I drank the tea, I read the label and realized that it too contains caffeine. So I won’t make that mistake again. As of tomorrow I will have cocoa instead of tea.

For lunch I had some of the boiled yam that was left over from breakfast along with sardines and Tang for mt beverage. I also had a piece of watermelon for fruit.

For dinner I was not at home and I ended up getting fried chicken with potato wedges. Not the healthiest meal but it was the best I could do considering it was a public holiday and most places were closed.

I realize that I didn’t get any vegetables today. This is an area that I have to make a concerted effort to improve in. Tomorrow I will be sure to have adequate servings of vegetables.

Waist measurement

For this wheat fast I will be monitoring my waist measurement in order to gauge my progress. Today my waist measured 31.5 inches.

I felt pretty great today. I did not get hungry as quickly as I normally do which is a good sign. I also did not feel sleepy after eating. Because I was out on the road, I did not get a chance to exercise today.

Let’s see what tomorrow holds!
